” Children learn to be strong and independent from the base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or key person” EYFS 2008
At Little Ducklings Day Nursery we believe that children settle best when they have a key person to relate to, who knows them and their parents well, and who can recognise and meet their individual needs. Whilst at nursery your child will be given a key person who will make them feel safe, secure, stimulated and happy.
Your child’s key person will work with you to deliver a personalised plan for your child’s well-being, care and learning. “Parents are children’s first and most enduring educators. When parents and practitioners work together in early years settings, the results can have a positive impact on children’s learning and development” EYFS 2008
Your child’s key person will act as the key point of contact for other carers involved with your child such as childminders or other nursery settings. They will work closely with other health professionals such as Health Visitors, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and the area Special Educational Needs Inclusion Teacher, if required, to ensure your child receives the best quality of care and reaches their full potential.
Little Ducklings Day Nursery also have in place a ‘buddy’ key person system in the absence of your child’s key person.
