” A rich and varied environment supports children’s learning and development. It gives them the confidence to explore and learn in secure and safe, yet challenging, indoor and outdoor spaces ” EYFS 2008
Being outdoors has a positive impact on children’s sense of well-being and helps with all aspects of children’s development. It offers children the opportunities for doing things in different ways and on different scales than indoors. It gives them first hand experiences and contact with the weather and the changes in seasons.
Outdoor play gives children the freedom to explore, use their senses and be physically active.
At Little Ducklings Day Nursery we recognise the importance of outdoor play on children’s learning and development and all the benefits that are on offer. We have our outdoor area open on a continuous basis and therefore enjoy all aspects of the great British weather! We aim to provide a safe, secure, enriched outdoor area.
We also have a purpose built sensory garden for the children in the Duckling’s Room ensuring they have access to the outdoors as often as possible.
We provide suncream and sun hats for the summer months and waterproof suits and wellies for the winter months.
