Positive Relationships are an important part of your child’s early years experience. They begin with you at home and we at Little Ducklings Day Nursery want to develop these relationships with you and your child to provide them with the best possible start in life.
At Little Ducklings Day Nursery we aim to develop a positive relationship with you and your child by assisting you with the settling in period as best we can. Before your child starts nursery we arrange for first day questions. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and for us to get to know your child’s routine etc. We will then work together with you to organise visits so your child can become familiar with their new environment and key person.
When your child is due to make the transition from the Ducklings Room into the Mallard Room your child’s key person will organise a meeting with you to discuss your child making this important move. They will introduce you to the staff based in the Mallard Room and their new key person. This will give you the opportunity to discuss your child’s needs and interests, or any concerns you may have regarding the transition with them. The staff from both rooms will hold a transition meeting for your child where dates of visits are arranged and all issues are discussed. Your child will then undertake visits in the Mallard Room, initially with their key person from the Ducklings Room, until they feel comfortable with their new environment. Your child’s key person within the Duckling’s Room will then begin a ‘transition document’ which will accompany your child on each settling session. This document will be completed by both key people and sent home with your child for you to add any comments you wish regarding the transition.
If your child is finding the transition difficult we will organise more visits until both you and us feel they are ready to make this important move.
